Indicative cruising costs

Fuel costs for motor yachts depend on the type of engines installed and their consumption, which varies from one vessel to another. Weather and cruising conditions can also significantly affect consumption.

For sailing yachts, fuel costs are generally lower, as the main propulsion is provided by the wind acting on the sails. The engine is used mainly for harbour manoeuvres or when wind conditions are insufficient.

Documents and regulations

The activity is governed by Article 2 of Legislative Decree no. 171 of 18 July 2005, the Code of Recreational Boating implementing Directive 2003/44/EC, in accordance with Article 6 of Law no. 172 of 8 July 2003.

The measure came into force on 15 September 2005 and is currently updated with the amendments published up to 9 May 2026.

The crew is carefully selected and highly qualified, attending to every aspect of navigation and life on board with professionalism and discretion. Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for your charter

Which areas of Italy can I choose?
A yacht in Italy can reach very different coasts. The most requested are the Gulf of Naples with Capri, the Costa Smeralda in Sardinia, the Aeolian Islands in Sicily, and in Liguria the Cinque Terre and Portofino.
Can I combine several stretches of coast in a single cruise?
Yes. For a yacht for rent in Italy, depending on the duration, nearby coasts can be combined, for example the Gulf of Naples with the Pontine Islands. A suggested itinerary is defined before departure, which the Captain adapts according to sea and weather conditions and the safety of the guests.
Is a boating licence required to charter?
No, a crewed yacht charter in Italy does not require guests to hold a boating licence. Operating the yacht and holding the relevant qualifications is the responsibility of the qualified crew selected by the owner.
What is the recommended length of a cruise?
A charter can start from a weekend, but to truly appreciate a stretch of the Italian coast the most suitable option is a weekly or medium to long cruise, which leaves time to alternate stops ashore with days at anchor.
In Depth

Why choose Italy for your next charter

Italy packs into a few miles a variety that elsewhere would require entire crossings. One morning you are at anchor beneath the Faraglioni of Capri, the next in a granite cove of Sardinia or in front of a village of the Cinque Terre. Every coast has its own character, its cuisine and its harbours.

A yacht charter in Italy offers the colours of the Amalfi Coast, the waters of Sardinia and the volcanoes of the Aeolian Islands. VerdeBlu selects the vessel best suited to your idea of a cruise, with respect for the sea and the marine protected areas, so that the beauty of these places remains intact.
